Vacancy – 2nd Line Support Engineer

We are currently looking to recruit 2nd Line Support Engineer to join their team in Newton Abbot (Apprenticeship applicants welcome).


As a 2nd Line Support Engineer you will be a major point of contact to deliver a first class customer experience and be involved in a range of projects for customers. You will work independently and within a team to ensure the smooth delivery of all projects and will be expected to build rapport and confidence with all stakeholders, so great communication skills are a must!

Ideally you should have a basic understanding of the following:

  • PHP (or Java)
  • SQL (with any major DBMS such as MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, etc.)
  • HTML
  • JavaScript / JQuery
  • CSS

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interact with customers to provide and process information in response to inquiries, concerns, and requests about our products and services;
  • Gather customer’s information and determine the issue by evaluating and analysing the issues raised;
  • Develop and enhance features and functionality for our products;
  • Resolve code bugs and accurately track progress using our designated help desk software;
  • Follow standard processes and procedures;
  • Identify and escalate priority issues as necessary, redirect problems to appropriate resource;
  • Offer alternative solutions where appropriate with the objective of retaining customers’ and clients’ business;
  • Organise ideas and communicate messages appropriate to listeners and situations;
  • Follow up and make scheduled call backs to customers where necessary;
  • Stay current with system information, changes and updates

Full Time – Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm; Salary range – £15,000 pa
